November 6th-November 10th was busy week at Prairie Ridge Elementary. We had our  fall food and change drive starting this week. As of Friday morning a total of  2,655 food items were collected for Shawnee Community Services Food Pantry and we received another four boxes of food at Bingo Night. The Food Pantry was extremely grateful for our donation as their shelves have been bare for several weeks. We raised a total of $1,462.62 at our change drive. We will use this money to purchase blanket supplies for the Congenital Heart Defects Association (chdfamilies.org).  Students will make the blankets at our February Community Service day. We raised more money than we  will need for the blanket supplies and will send the remaining funds to the Shawnee Community Services. A BIG BIG thank you to all of those who volunteered and donated! P. Smiths class won a doughnut party for brining in the most food items (266 items) and the 2nd grade won an extra recess for brining in the most change ($372.76).

November 10th was also our first community service project. The kids worked extremely hard sorting and boxing up the food from the food drive. They worked even faster than we anticipated and had fun at the same time.  We also made 80 veterans day cards to send to Operation Gratitude. Thank you to all of those who participated in this event and a special thanks to our parent volunteers.

Bingo night was a fun filled night for the kids, the cafeteria was filled with lots of laughter and giggles. It was great evening with our PRE Family.
